Approximately twenty-five miles from the Queens border of New York City lies Babylon Village, a town seeking to earn its infamous name by throwing its hat into the seditious ring of anti-Second Amendment policy. Operating in the shadows of a state that has made it clear it is no friend to American values or the country’s Foundation, these modern-day Babylonians have imposed a ban on gun stores in defiance of the inalienable rights enumerated in the Constitution.
Deputy Mayor Frank Seibert sees the ban as a safety concern, however, with so many laws regulating Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs), it’s hard to imagine any threat posed by the opening of a gun store in town. “For safety reasons, I think this is a good policy,” said comrade Seibert. I think there should be a greater concern for the drivel this smooth-brained mammal is pedaling versus the existence of a store that supports the exercising of American rights. But nobody is being fooled here, as we all know the measure has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with the left’s petulant pursuit of authoritarian rule and anti-Second Amendment agenda.
Mayor Mary Adams tried to justify the idea of a threat by referencing the illegal sale of marijuana behind a marijuana shop that had opened on Deer Park Avenue, apparently clueless to Babylon’s implied endorsement of getting high while rebelling against the Bill of Rights. Why not do something about the illegal activity if you know it’s taking place? And what in the world does this have to do with American’s right to bear arms?
This is yet another form of gun control by proxy. Pennsylvania has been at this lately by way of zoning restrictions. While some citizens in Babylon Village objected to this new measure, that didn’t stop the Politburo of Trustees from approving the ban unanimously. Playing dumb to the logic that possession of firearms requires the right to purchase them is no excuse for the lawless violation of American civil rights perpetrated by anti-gun extremists, with Adams stooping to the shallowest depths of intelligence to defend the gun store ban by stating that other areas allow them.

I’d like to personally challenge conservative lawmakers to finally test the left’s irreverence for the Constitution against other rights protected in the Founding documents. Isn’t it exhausting having to play by the rules while the other side runs roughshod over the country with a treasonous sense of rebellion? Let’s see conservative states and municipalities ban liberal newspapers and demonstrations by groups promoting LGBTQ, pro-choice, pro-Palestinian, and pro-undocumented migrant agendas. Perhaps predominantly Christian and Jewish areas could ban mosques. Of course, exceptions could be made through some form of additional tax. Why not? If it isn’t an infringement on the Second Amendment, surely it can’t be an infringement on the First. You can’t have it both ways. And according to Mayor Adams, the fact that you can still partake in all those things in other areas should have us covered.
It should go without saying that I don’t wish for an America without the freedom of expression, just as I find the many infringements upon the right to bear arms unacceptable. But it’s high time we level the playing field, whether it’s to make a point or set a judicial precedence on what actions amount to a violation of the Constitution. I do find it a shame that this is what things have come to, but unrelenting attacks on a free people’s liberty can lead to far more undesirable results.
