Will Anti-Gunners Slip Gun Control into the Next Stimulus Package?

Many gun-rights supporters are concerned Nancy Pelosi and other anti-gunners will slip gun control into the next stimulus package after trying to sneak gun control restrictions into the first relief bill.

After Nancy Pelosi and other anti-gun Democrats in Congress tried to sneak gun control restrictions into the first stimulus legislation aimed at COVID-19 relief, many gun-rights supporters are concerned they will try to do so again with the stimulus measure under consideration this week.

And while it’s not certain that such an attempt might occur, at least two pro-gun rights organizations are sounding the warning bell.

One such organization is the Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC), a nonprofit group that advocates for individual liberties and important constitutional rights—especially those protected under the First, Second, Fifth, and 14th amendments.

“Another attempt to have gun control shoehorned into a COVID-19 stimulus package is imminent,” the organization warned in an information brief. “Our grassroots army helped stop the previous bi-partisan Congressional assault on our rights under cover of the pandemic hysteria. The previous amendment attempt now has support from 24 state attorneys general. We need to stop it from happening again on the next stimulus package.”

As FPC reported, the last failed effort of Democrats and Republicans colluding together to insert gun control is being bolstered by the 24 attorneys general mentioned previously to “reauthorize the deceptively-named ‘Violence Against Women Act’ (VAWA), a massively-problematic gun control initiative; manufacture a whole new class of victims by depriving Americans of a hearing before losing their Second Amendment rights and property; and provide for the unconstitutional federalization of state resources, dramatically expanding the federal government’s reach into matters traditionally controlled by the states.”

“The VAWA proposal was a massive bi-partisan assault on your fundamental rights,” the brief concluded. “Tell [Congress] you won't stand for another attempt of these treasonous politicians to sneak gun control into the next stimulus!”

The group even provides a form on its website for gun owners to fill out to notify Congress they are against such proposals being slipped into the new stimulus bill.

Another gun-rights organization, the National Association for Gun Rights, issued a memo to its members with an even sterner warning about the COVID-19 legislation.

“Make no mistake, the gun control lobby is eyeing this as another opportunity to ram through gun control,” the member stated. “Unfortunately, Senate Republicans are looking to make a compromise, and it may include our gun rights.”
