CCW-Holding Uber Driver Foils Crime

CCW-Holding Uber Driver Foils Crime

Concealed carry in Illinois had no opponents more fervent than Chicago Police Chief Garry McCarthy and Cook Co. Sheriff Tom Dart. So it will be interesting to see what that duo has to say about an incident in the city's Logan Square neighborhood near midnight Friday night.

Everardo Custodio, 22, opened fire into a crowd of people, scattering them. A 47-year-old driver for the ride-sharing service Uber drew his licensed pistol and fired back, hitting Custodio in the shin, thigh and lower back.

Now this is the very sort of outcome McCarthy and Dart flatly denied would ever happen if Illinois passed concealed carry. The two made the usual predictions of "Dodge City" mayhem, despite the collected contrary experience of 49 other states. The antis are fond of saying there's no such thing as good guys and bad guys. I wonder what the people at whom Custodio was shooting would have to say about that.
