Disk Sander Grit for Gun Recoil Pads?

Disk Sander Grit for Gun Recoil Pads?
In fitting most recoil pads, Coffield generally uses a 60 to 80 grit abrasive pad on his disk sander. Itís important not to keep using a pad once itís started wearing out and getting clogged.

Question: What grit do you use on your disk sander when grinding down a recoil pad?

Answer: I generally use a 60- or 80-grit sanding disk. What is almost as important to me is the condition of the sanding disk. If it is at all worn, Iíll replace it with a new, fresh disk. The new disk will cut cleaner and give me a much nicer finish on the recoil pad.
