It is often argued that capitalists will do anything for money and that political considerations always come behind economic ones.
That appears not to be the case with Charlotte, N.C.-based Bank of America, the second largest bank in the country. As recounted on the Facebook page of well-known manufacturer McMillan Group Intl, politics apparently trumps a long business relationship if guns are involved.
The notion that a bank would (a) end a long working relationship with a manufacturer because it has expanded from making firearms accessories to making guns and (b) blandly admit the decision was entirely political is, to say the least, surprising. We will hope that BoA (and subsidiaries like Merrill, Lynch) won't be surprised when gun owners choose to end their relationships with it. There are a whole lot of credit cards you can choose: why use one from a company that has planted its flag on the side of the enemy?
