2023 NRA Convention

The "2023 NRA Convention Guns & Gear Round-Up" article was much better than I expected when I clicked the link. Usually these show summary articles are vapid pandering/advertising. Not only is Mr. Tarr an excellent and enteraining writer, he provided detailed information on the products and believable commentary that did not read like a manufacturer's press release. Further. I appreciated him calling out SHOT for feeding the beast in Las Vegas. SHOT should move to a city that doesn't hate us and until it does it should be cut off financially. I enjoy James's work on TV as well. Great job!

The Knox Report

Excellent job by Jeff Knox, bringing the entire sordid mess to light in his piece on the NRA. And, kudos for F N for having the courage to make it ALL public. I've been an NRA member for many years and it's been a major disappointment to me, but I thought I'd hang in there until things improved.
My membership expires in 2026, and they're still trying for extensions to fund their continued piracy of the membership and their gross inadequacy at representing us. A great institution turned into a stinking cesspool.

Knox Response

Thanks Peter,
It's a very sad situation. Since the Board has refused to take any kind of serious corrective action, the decline continues. I'm afraid that at this point, only the courts can save the NRA, and they could easily do the exact opposite of saving it. I'll keep reporting and trying to save our organization, but it will probably take a court order to actually stop the destruction.

We'll keep you posted.
Jeff

Bushmaster ARM Pistol

Just taking a minute to say I very much enjoyed the article on a firearm, the Bushmaster Arm Pistol, that I was totally unfamiliar with.  I also enjoyed the good Doctor’s writing style and hope that if I am ever in need of some critical care that I have the good fortune to stumble into his clinic.

Smith & Wesson M&P 22 WMR

If you read the fine print on this new Smith & Wesson M&P 22 WMR pistol, you'll see they recommend 30-32 grain bullets for optimum performance. As a 35 year FFL with 60 years of field experience, I wrote to S&W and questioned why. They didn't bother to answer. If this pistol is strictly for paper-punching, they should tell us. Also, if this pistol becomes unreliable with the more common 40-50 grain 22 wmr ammo, again, they should tell us.
