The United States Marine Corps 3rd Marine Division Association promotes the history and legacy of the USMC, as well as assisting members with various veteran-related issues. Every year, the organization holds firearms raffles to assist with their annual budgets.
Association Manager and Membership Chairman Roger Bacon oversees the associations’ newsletter CALTRAP , as well as the organization’s annual firearm fundraiser raffles. Bacon, a Vietnam War combat veteran, was awarded the Navy Marine Corps Medal for Valor, along with other awards including two Purple Hearts, for actions he took in combat. His story was summarized in the Salem News last year:
“…[Bacon] was shipped off to Vietnam in April 1967 and assigned to the 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Division. On May 2, while searching for the Viet Cong, his unit came under heavy fire that left four Marines wounded in an open area and the rest of the unit scrambling for cover. Bacon looked at the wounded Marines and decided to take action. One by one he dragged the soldiers back to relative safety, covering distances of 20 to 40 yards, he estimated. Six days later after pulling the injured soldiers to safety, Bacon would be injured with shrapnel from a mortar round that exploded near him, knocking him off a hill.”
Bacon served in the Marines from 1965 to 1971, he was inducted into the Ohio Military Hall of Fame in 2019.

When the CEO of Inter Ordnance, Uli Wiegand, heard that the USMC 3rd Marine Division Association was in need of a rifle for their raffle, his response was immediate: “We would be happy to donate a rifle.” Roger Bacon deeply appreciated the donation of an Inter Ordinance M215-ML15 MFT Rifle Package . This rifle features a Mission First Tactical (MFT) Minimalist stock, an MFT grip, 15-inch free-float MLOK handguard, and includes three MFT 30-round magazines and a premium padded rifle case.
